Posted on June 5, 2015
The Southern Alberta Building Trades along with the Calgary Board of Education have developed a program called “Off Campus Exploratory Programs” that allows Calgary youth to explore various trades while still in high school. Students are exposed to various trades including plumbing, welding, insulating, ironworking and gasfitting among others. So far one hundred students have completed the program. This program was launched in collaboration with former UA Local 496 Business Manager Ken Jones, Insulators Union Local 110, Ironworkers Local 725, UA Local 496 and Southern Building Trades Manager Mike Rezansoff.
