The Building Trades of Alberta is proud to welcome the Pile Drivers, Divers, Bridge, Dock and Wharf Builders Local 2404 as its newest affiliated union.
Local 2404 represents skilled tradespeople working throughout Western Canada in land foundation, bridge building and more. Its members perform highly specialized work that is essential to building the foundations of Alberta’s infrastructure, industrial facilities and major construction projects.
“On behalf of the Building Trades of Alberta and all our affiliated unions, I am pleased to welcome the members and leadership of Local 2404 to the BTA,” said BTA Executive Director Terry Parker. “Pile drivers and divers bring specialized expertise, professionalism and a strong commitment to safety to every project. Their addition makes our council stronger and further enhances the skilled union workforce available to build Alberta.”
Pile drivers play a critical role during the earliest stages of construction. They install steel, concrete and timber piles that support major structures, stabilize excavation sites and provide the foundations for bridges, highways, industrial facilities, and other essential infrastructure.
The addition of Local 2404 strengthens the BTA’s ability to represent the complete range of skills needed for Alberta’s current and future construction needs. As governments and industry move forward with major industrial, energy and infrastructure investments, access to a highly trained, safety-focused and dependable workforce will be essential to delivering projects successfully.
Local 2404 has represented workers for more than a century and is affiliated with the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America. Its members share the values that unite all BTA affiliates: excellence in training, high standards of safety, quality workmanship and a commitment to building strong careers for unionized skilled tradespeople.
Through its strategic action plan, the BTA is working to grow the market share of Alberta’s Building Trades Unions and secure more steady work for members. Welcoming Local 2404 strengthens those efforts by bringing additional experience, expertise and industry relationships to the council.
“Every new affiliate expands our collective strength and our ability to deliver steady work across the trades,” Parker added. “By standing together, Alberta’s Building Trades Unions can pursue more opportunities, strengthen union-led training and ensure that major projects are built by highly skilled tradespeople.”
The BTA looks forward to working closely with Local 2404’s leadership and members to expand opportunities, promote their specialized trades and ensure unionized pile drivers and divers play a leading role in building Alberta’s future.
