Yesterday, The Building Trades of Alberta Charitable Foundation hosted its sixth annual John Tackaberry Memorial Golf Tournament. In the spirit of John’s legacy of generosity, our organization donated $300,000 to the Stollery Children’s Hospital. The main focus of this donation is on mental healthcare, a major concern for many families in these trying times. We’d like to thank all of our tournament participants, sponsors and partners at the Stollery for making this possible.
We were thrilled to see such a great attendance from our local affiliates and industry partners to support this great cause, celebrate John’s life and have a great time! Lots of lucky winners went home with prizes from our raffle, including a game-used stick signed by The Edmonton Oilers’ own Ryan Nugent Hopkins. Special congratulations to the team from the Alexander First Nation for winning the tournament with some amazing golfing!
This tournament was first held in 2015 and has raised more than $820,000 for charitable not-for-profits. These organizations include Diabetes Canada, Edmonton Public Library School Foundation, Make-A-Wish Foundation, Heart and Stroke Foundation, Fresh Start Recovery, Job Safety Skills Society, Glenrose Hospital Foundation, and The Second Community League Playground, to name a few.
The Building Trades of Alberta and its members believe in giving back to the community. We’re proud to support the great work of the Stollery Children’s Hospital and we look forward to continuing to support more causes worthy of John’s legacy.
