To strengthen ties and explore collaborative opportunities, the Building Trades of Alberta (BTA) Executive Board recently visited the NOVA Chemicals Joffre site.
Located just east of Red Deer, Alberta, the NOVA Chemicals Joffre site is one of the largest ethylene and polyethylene production complexes in the world. The site comprises five manufacturing facilities, including three for ethylene production and two for polyethylene production. Since its inception in 1979, the Joffre site has grown into one of the largest facilities of its kind in the world.
The BTA Executive Board’s visit to the Joffre site was an opportunity to witness firsthand the advanced manufacturing processes and innovative technologies employed by NOVA Chemicals. The tour included a comprehensive overview of the site’s operations, highlighting the production of ethylene and polyethylene, which are essential building blocks for countless consumer and industrial products
During the visit, the BTA Executive Board engaged in discussions with NOVA Chemicals Joffre Site’s leadership team, focusing on potential areas of collaboration. The dialogue centred around workforce development and the importance of the high skills and safety standards our members bring to the site. Both parties expressed a shared commitment to promoting a safe and productive work environment.
The BTA thank NOVA’s team for welcoming our Executive Board to this site. We look forward to connecting with NOVA again as we continue to strengthen our partnership through dialogue.
