Media release: $15,000 on its way to B.C. to help with flood relief

EDMONTON, AB – The Building Trades of Alberta has donated $5,000 to the Canadian Red Cross to help British Columbia residents rebuild and repair from catastrophic flooding that left the province devastated last month.

With the Government of Canada and the British Columbia government matching all donations from Nov. 17 to Dec. 26, the total donation to the Canadian Red Cross from this donation will be $15,000.

“We know our sisters and brothers in B.C. have been there for Alberta in our times of need, including the Fort McMurray wildfire, so we make this donation in solidarity with our friends to the west, and we thank the federal government and the B.C. government for matching all donations until Dec. 26,” said Terry Parker, BTA Executive Director.

The Building Trades of Alberta encourages all who can to donate to Red Cross flood relief at redcross.ca before Dec. 26 to take advantage of government donation matching.

BTA proudly represents more than 60,000 skilled tradespeople from 18 Alberta union locals, province wide.
