BTA MEDIA RELEASE: Motion 501 could provide the industry certainty that’s needed to boost jobs and economy
EDMONTON – On March 2, Lac Ste. Anne-Parkland MLA Shane Getson introduced Motion 501 in the Alberta legislature.
Motion 501 begins the process of establishing corridors for infrastructure such as pipelines, railways and roads to increase access to global markets for Alberta products, from oil to agriculture, through deep sea ports in locations like Hudson Bay, Kitimat, the state of Alaska and more.
“Unlocking Alberta’s resources and increasing access to markets is key to improving economic certainty and stability in the province,” said Building Trades of Alberta Executive Director Terry Parker.
“Establishing corridors for transportation infrastructure to help get our products to global buyers is something the Building Trades of Alberta is encouraged by. We welcome opportunities that could improve our economy and could get our folks, and other working Albertans, back into mortgage-paying construction and operational jobs. Motion 501 could provide those opportunities.”
The Building Trades of Alberta represents more than 60,000 skilled trades women and men within 18 local unions across the province.
