Government of Alberta to Fund Building Trades Union Training Centres

The Government of Alberta has announced $5 million in funding for unionized training centres in Alberta.

Many of our affiliated Building Trades unions run their own apprenticeship training facilities. In many discussions with the Government of Alberta, the BTA has advocated for the importance of these facilities and the importance of investing in the top-quality training that the Building Trades provides. As our province faces growing demands for labour in new industrial projects, it is more important than ever that labour, industry and our government work side-by-side to grow Alberta’s capacity for apprenticeship training opportunities.

This announcement is a huge win for the Building Trades of Alberta and for our industry. We are grateful to Premier Danielle Smith, Minister Rajan Sawhney and the Government of Alberta for recognizing the value that these institutions provide for apprentices.
