John Tackaberry Future Leaders Award 2023!

Are you a Building Trades of Alberta apprentice who’s passionate about leadership? Do you show drive and commitment to be a leader at home, on the worksite and in your community? Then enter to win the John Tackaberry Future Leaders Award and $1,000.

John was a father, a friend, a brother and an incredibly skilled tradesperson. In all he did, he was a leader.

John served on many committees, held numerous leadership positions and mentored members as they progressed in their careers. However, leadership isn’t always about having the spotlight, the title, or the authority.

True leadership comes in all shapes and sizes. It’s about taking the initiative and helping those around you. It’s about making a positive impact at your work, home and in your community. Real leadership has to be lived and that was something John excelled at. This award was created to honour his passion for others.

Now is your opportunity to tell your story. Write an essay that describes your commitment to leadership and submit it to atheroux@bta.ca by the end of the day on September 4 (Labour Day). Show us what makes you a true leader and you could receive the John Tackaberry Future Leaders Award along with $1,000!

Some things to consider while you write:

– What do you believe makes a good leader?

– Who do you look up to?

– What have you done that makes you a good leader?

– How does your contribution add value?

Convince us you are committed to leadership and that you deserve this award. Make your essay meaningful. There is no length requirement, just share what’s important to you.

Remember, communication is a critical skill needed for effective leadership. So, put your best effort into this project, as it represents what you believe about yourself and what others believe about you.

You must be an apprentice with the Building Trades of Alberta to qualify. All essays submitted by 11:59 pm on September 4 will be considered. The winner will be announced at 10:00 AM (MT) on September 20, 2023 at our convention.

If you have any questions regarding the essay or the award, email atheroux@bta.ca

Good luck!!!
